The Medical Research Network, LLC

Researching the Treatments of Tomorrow . . . T O D A Y

Background and History

The Medical Research Network (MRN), is a well established clinical research site, which focuses primarily on psychiatric, neurological and chronic pain disorders.  Since our inception in 1997 we have completed numerous phase II, III, and IV studies in depression, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as a variety of neurophathy and chronic pain disorders.  MRN was founded and is directed by Dr. Michael R. Liebowitz, an internationally renowned physician and researcher.

The programs MRN offers are developed to find the best and most effective treatments for people who suffer from depression, anxiety and chronic pain disorders.  All of the treatments we offer are provided by specialists in these areas.  MRN specializes in the pharmacology or medication management of these disorders.

MRN also conducts placebo-controlled clinical trials or research studies with medications ranging from marketed anxiolytics and antidepressants to newer or recently developed or investigational medications which are not yet available to the general public.  MRN's work is sponsored by well known pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline, and Wyeth.

Why will treatment be free?

The clinic is able to provide free treatment because our research is funded through various industry or pharmaceutical company sponsors.

How safe is the research?

All research protocols conducted at the MRN are reviewed for subject protection and safety by an Institutional Review Board (IRB).  The IRB is a panel composed of individuals with no relation to the study sponsor or our clinic.  The job of the IRB is to review and ensure that the study is being conducted in a safe manner and that the patient has been fully informed about what participation entails.

What are the benefits?

One of the many benefits will be the evaluation and treatment by experts; safety will be closely monitored, and a doctor is available 24 hours a day.  Most people feel significantly better after their treatment in the center.  Satisfaction in knowing that you are helping to develop better treatments for people with similar problems will also be comforting.  After completing the research study, treatment will be individualized, and will continue to be free of charge for a period of time after the study.  If you need longer treatment, we will help you obtain it.
