Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

Our research studies are completely free. There is no charge for participation, and you do not need insurance to participate.

Why will treatment be free?

The clinic is able to provide free treatment because our research is funded through various industry or pharmaceutical company sponsors.

How safe is the research?

All research protocols conducted at the MRN are reviewed for subject protection and safety by an Institutional Review Board (IRB). The IRB is a panel composed of individuals with no relation to the study sponsor or our clinic. The job of the IRB is to review and ensure that the study is being conducted in a safe manner and that the patient has been fully informed about what participation entails.

What are the benefits?

One of the many benefits will be the evaluation and treatment by experts; safety will be closely monitored, and a doctor is available 24 hours a day. Satisfaction in knowing that you are helping to develop better treatments for people with similar problems will also be comforting. After completing the research study, we offer patients an additional 6 months of individualized private treatment, which is provided free of charge. If you need longer treatment, we will help you to obtain it.

What programs are currently available?

Please visit our Current Studies page for more information about our actively enrolling studies.

Do you pay patients to participate?

We do not pay patients for participating, but all of our studies do include a Visit Stipend that is paid to the patient for each study visit completed.  The amount provided per visit varies from study to study, and the stipend is meant to help cover the costs of transportation and travel to/from the clinic for study visits.

What about after the study - what happens to me then?

All patients who participate in a study with us are offered free, ongoing treatment after your study participation ends, no matter if you improve during the study or not.  For a period of 6 months, you can continue coming in to see the doctor for individualized, private treatment at no charge.  If you need longer treatment, we will help you obtain it.
